Veteran’s Park in Downtown Waukesha
Grandpa Zubarik – World War II I was hoping to get this post up last week in time for Veteran’s Day, but I was a little under the weather and blogging went on the wayside. But I don’t think there is every a bad day to salute a Veteran and thank them for their service. Without their sacrifice to defend our nation, we wouldn’t have the freedoms we have today. Downtown Waukesha has a very nice, but small Veteran’s Park on the west end. You can find it on the corner of Main & Wisconsin Avenues. A small shelter houses faded pictures and information about Veteran’s. I tried to find…

100 Happy Days: Week 9
This “cold-cough-aching-wheezing-hives-whatever-I-have” is still here to stay and definitely putting a damper on my happiness. But I’m trooping through and still doing my best to be a part of the world. I have never been this sick for this long, but I think it’s finally on it’s way out! Dr.s just say it needs to run its course, but it’s starting to feel like last winter with the “polar vortex” – never leaving! Anyways, I did have some great happy moments that I want to share with all of you. Day 60: Allison Art House had a Ladies Night Out event and I attended with my friend Tiffany. I found…

Generations Birthday Brunch
I love getting my friends together for my birthday and I’m always looking for something different to do. I have had a Brewer’s playoff party, Monday Night Football (Packers vs. Vikings) bar party, Badgers Game Party (sensing a sports theme), Brewery tour, bonfire on a frigid night, and sushi dinner to name a few. 27th Birthday at my apartment during the Brewers Playoff games. 28th Birthday at Sporties for the MNF Packers V. Vikings Game 29th Birthday at Milwaukee Brewing Company with the 2 birthday boys! 30th Birthday party at New Berlin Ale House for a Badgers Game This year I went completely different and with my birthday falling on…

Holiday Happenings in Downtown Waukesha
Mark Your Calendars as there are some great events coming up in downtown Waukesha for the holidays. I highlighted a few of the bigger events but I see that OurDowntown.com & Waukesha Silver Bells have rather extensive calendar with great events each night of the week in Waukesha. Live music, trivia nights, poker, karaoke, open mic, dance lessons and so much more fill each night of the week in Waukesha. There is always something going on. 11/21 – TREE LIGHTING – 8 PM – 9:30 PMI have actually never attended this but I enjoy taking pictures of the gorgeous tree every year. I might just have the opportunity to be…

United We Dine for United Way In Waukesha County
We are in the final stretch of the #UnitedWeDine campaign for the United Way in Waukesha County. Just two weeks left to eat a great meal and donate to a wonderful organization. Here are the locations that are left. 11/17 – Dickey’s Barbeque Pit New Berlin – I haven’t visited one of these yet but my friends are a fan. The offer is good from 3 – 9 pm and you have to mention United Way. 11/18 – Jersey Mike’s in Waukesha & Brookfield – If you want a sub with freshly cut meats and cheeses just for you, this place is it! I think I know where my lunch…

100 Happy Days: Week 8
Day 51: Sushi and Milwaukee night with my girls. I don’t get into Milwaukee as much as I would like and so picking a place on the river with excellent food was a great idea. I got to see the skyline, got to catch up with the girls and filled my belly with delicious sushi. Screaming Tuna gets a high recommendation from me. Day 52: Luke Bryan on stage with Garth Brooks – what a site. The County Music Awards majorly impressed me and though I never doubt country music to cheer me up, this show kept me laughing, smiling and singing along. Maybe the wine I had with…

Simpsons/Family Guy Party
My friend is a lover of all things Simpsons and we had a party for the 500th episode a few years ago. It included him decking out his place with all of his memorabilia and food based on the show. I helped with the food portion and helped with the Krusty Burgers, Squishies, free goo, donuts and Duff Beer. It was a blast as you can see from the pictures. Well it was time again for another Simpsons party, but this time it was because of the Simpsons/Family Guy crossover episode. Another one of my friends is a huge Family Guy fan so we decided to have the party. The…

100 Happy Days: Week 7
This post marks the midway point of my 100HappyDays and I have to say that I actually am feeling a lot more positive about my daily life. Sure there are things that still get on my nerves and stuff but I try to not focus on that and am looking for my happy thing everyday – no matter how small it is. Day 45: Well for some reason I didn’t post anything for day 45 – I did watch a lot of Gilmore Girls and relaxed until meeting a friend at a bar for the Packer game. The bar experience was just average and the Packers lost. But all in…

Little Free Library
Although I am a fan of the Waukesha Public Library, I drive past a Little Free Library going to work everyday and have seen a few others throughout the city. This got me thinking – how many are out there in Waukesha alone? I found a website but unfortunately the listing isn’t up to date. It did tell me about a few others that I wasn’t aware of in my city. If you aren’t familiar with the Little Free Library program, here is a simple explanation: It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little…
