Bernie’s Tap Room and Downtown Waukesha

I had a date Friday night and I introduced him to Bernie’s Tap Room and the Duck Confit and BBQ pizzas/flatbreads. The BBQ pizza was new to me and I think what makes Bernie’s pizzas/flatbreads so outstanding is the super crispy and thin crust. I made another fan of the duck pizza and I WILL figure out the white sauce so I can try my darndest to make this at home. We took two slices of the BBQ pizza home to not be glutinous but it was really, really good. My date was even lucky enough to score me some duck so I can try cooking it myself too! Any…

    Healthy Living Week 2

15 days  down, 31 to go!  A third of the way there…… Before I get into the details – I want to shoe this picture of the amazing Pairdd meal that I made last Thursday. Details on what Pairdd is and how the fabulous the meal was will come up later this week.  Salmon w/ quinoa, kale, chickpea and craisin salad — Pairdd Week 2 was much harder than Week 1. I knew it was going to be more of a struggle, but I really didn’t think it would be this hard. I think my body is finally realizing that I am depriving it of jelly beans, Starbursts, diet soda…

    Cue Club of Wisconsin

From CueClubofWI.com Now that I live on the north end of Waukesha, the Cue Club of Wisconsin (formerly Master Z’s, formerly Sharkey’s) is really close for me to go for a drink or a bite with friends. A few weeks ago, my friend Kacey and I went to get a few drinks late on a Friday night. We got to Cue Club around 9 and they were just tearing down from the Fish Fry (that is pretty tasty!). We grabbed a table between the bar and darts area/dance floor. An employee was plugging the Jukebox back in and I was excited to play a few songs and just relax and…

    Healthy Living Week 1

Week one of healthy eating has come to a close and I briefly wanted to share with you how it’s going. SPECTACULAR That’s about the best word I can sum up to tell you how I’m feeling about things. 1) I haven’t had a soda (minus two mixed drinks made with Dt. 7up instead of seltzer) and I think that is realy helping. I have replaced soda with seltzer, flavored water (like Crystal Light) and iced tea.  2) I have been working out and it’s paying off already. I checked out a few DVDs from the library and completed one of them so far. I also found a few workouts…

    Healthy Living

This has been a long time coming but due to a recent push by my doctor, I have decided that I am finally taking the leap and putting myself and my health first. I’m not saying that I am ridiculously, but I am out of shape, have gotten a little too comfortable, and my food choices haven’t been the best. So I’m taking a stand and for the 46 days of Lent, I plan to really give it my all. What is that old saying…. you have to try something at least 10 times before saying you don’t like it. Well I’m quadrupling that! I know there will be great…

    Fuzzy’s for Brunch

I have heard so many great things about Fuzzy’s breakfast and I love that they update their Facebook page the day before with the specials for the next day. I asked my friend Tiffany to come with me to brunch one Sunday morning a few weeks back and we are so glad we went. As I figured, the parking lot was crowded and so was the inside. There was a waiting list for a table, but some nice folks already waiting informed us about two seats at the bar if we didn’t mind eating there. We took them up on the offer and took the seats. We were instantly greeted…

    Dryer Vent Cleaning

The condo that I purchased is a little under 30 years old and of course that means over time, certain things need to be cleaned or replaced. Though there have been many updates throughout and that was why I bought the place, there are some things in need of repair. The furnace is still the original but kicking away just fine (knock on wood). But the drier venting was another story. After a week here, the drier vents that were duct taped together fell apart. Because the drier is electric and it’s been such a cold dry winter, I allowed the drier to just vent in the basement and I…

    Pat’s Rib Place

So many people have told me to go check out Pat’s Rib Place in Waukesha and I just never got around to it. Luckily, I have foodie friends in Waukesha that like to check out places too, so I finally checked it out and was crazy impressed with the place. Pat’s Rib Place is across from the (now closed) K-Mart in the blue strip mall (between East and Big Bend Road) on Sunset. It’s located in a former Subway location, as Subway moved down the strip mall into part of the former Dollar Discount I used to work at. Oh those were the days!  The other part of the dollar…

    Mini Stuffed French Toast

I got a craving for French Toast after having cinnamon bread French toast at Fuzzy’s a few weekends ago. But I decided to do it up right and stuff it with cream cheese and jam and knowing that would be so sweet, I decided to attempt to make a savory nutty syrup.  I had a cocktail sourdough loaf in my freezer and thawed it out.  For the egg mixture, I used two eggs, 1 Tbsp of milk and a dash of cinnamon and vanilla.  I put enough cream cheese on the square to just to cover the bread. Gobbing it on will cause a mess in your pan when you…

    Olympics and Russian Pelmenis

http://www.olympic.org/ I love the Olympics — summer and winter equally. The talent is like none other and I’m cheering on United States with all I can. The opening ceremonies were beautiful and I just adored the ballet section. I used to dance pointe, and Russia does it like no other. In honor of the Olympics being held in Russia, I wanted to make a traditional Russian meal. And I was further inspired by a blog readers Olympic rings cookies! However, just like Sochi, my meal was a partial fail.  I attempted Pelmenis which are Russian meat dumplings. The meat came together well and my little food processor handled it like…
