    United We Dine: November

While we are all recovering from a sugar-ladened weekend of Trick or Treating and other Halloween fun, take a break from the sweets and plan yourself some lunch and dinner dates to support United Way’s #UnitedWeDine initiative in November. If you aren’t familiar with this program, I’ll break it down. United Way in Waukesha County partners with area restaurants in the months of October and November. These partnering restaurants provide United Way in Waukesha County a portion of the sales from the day(s) they chose. Each business can customize exactly how they want their day to work; some restaurants offer a full day percentage of sales and others will offer…

    100 Happy Days: Week 6

Fall is just flying by and we are in peak colors currently. This makes me so happy seeing nature “showing off.” I”m not ready for the cold yet, but I am enjoying the golds, oranges and reds in the falling leaves. Day 37:  I got out on a walk on my lunch and saw this part of the sidewalk and couldn’t get past the sunlight coming through the trees and landing on the falling leaves.  Day 38: I was waiting for someone in a parking lot and looked out and saw this gorgeous sunset. Only a few more days until winter that I will be outside for the sunset as…

    Saturday: A Cooking Day

If you follow me on Facebook, you already know that I spent a Saturday cooking up a storm in my house to get meals set for myself for the week. I had a lot of ingredients to use up in my house and started cleaning out my freezer. I had things in there I didn’t even remember buying but am glad that I did. Every good soup starts with some onions and this Broccoli Cheese was no exception. I found it via Pinterest and decided to try it out.   I deviated from the recipe slightly in that I used Half & Half instead of Heavy Cream and added carrots and…

    Boscos Social Club

When I think of bars that I want to go to for a beer or cocktail in a fun atmosphere, Boscos Social Club almost always pops in mind right away. This place has been in downtown Waukesha since 2011 and has been constantly evolving and changing. I actually went to college (and hung out on occasion) with the owner Jimmy and am glad that he stayed local and has opened two businesses in town (Spurs Saloon) This building housed a lot of different bars before Boscos, but I never frequented those.  I believe the best addition they made to the place is the awesome “backyard.” They have three covered outdoor…

    Netflix Update

I still haven’t gotten cable in my condo and I think I actually like the fact that I’m not glued to my TV to watch the most current shows. I catch up online or on Netflix when I have time. So here is an update on shows I have watched on Netflix: Chuck – recommended by my friend Tory and tho comically cheesy at times, I became a big fan. And the lead girl’s name is Sarah! (Zachary Levi was so cute and geeky – Loved him) House of Cards – this season was darker than last so it took a bit more for me to stay with it this…

    100 Happy Days: Week 4 & 5

I got a little behind on posting so I did two weeks+ at one time to get you all caught up in my happiness. I hope maybe this has influenced you to at least look for the happinesses in every day life. I am really focusing on those and not the negative things. What good is it to dwell on that when you can smile and be happy?! Here are Weeks 1, 2 & 3.  Day 23: Running has been going well for me lately. A little nagging knee thing is happening so I am taking more days off but my time/mile is getting closer to where I want to be!…

United We Dine for United Way #2

The next two weeks of the #UnitedWeDine for United Way campaign have some great restaurants lined up to benefit the United Way. I was able to enjoy dinner with a friend at Famous Dave’s in Waukesha and support United Way in Waukesha. I hadn’t been to a Famous Dave’s in probably 10 years and it was just as tasty as I remember. You leave stuffed and with leftovers if you are like me, or like my friend and be a member of the completely clean plate club! We really enjoyed ourselves! From my last post: If you aren’t familiar with this program, I’ll break it down. United Way in Waukesha County partners with…

    Waxing Girl Studio

Up until three years ago, I never touched my eyebrows with anything more than an occasional tweeze to get rid of a few strays trying to create a unibrow on my face. But while getting my hair done, I was offered a  brow wax and shaping while my hair was all foiled up. I went for it and I’m glad I did. I now understand what defined eyebrows can really do for a face. I didn’t keep up on it with professional help and just tried to do my best at home. But again, they have gotten a bit wild! I received an email from Waxing Girl Studio’s owner who…

    100 Happy Days: Week 3

I had a little numbering issue and double numbered one day – but I’m back on track now. Here is Week 2 and Week 1  Day 16:  Took in the sites from Lapham and we were hoping for more pops of color but just a few so far. Sun is setting earlier, making the narrow wooded trails hard to see, but we pushed ourselves harder than ever before and conquered some amazing hills. It felt great.   Day 17:  Had a weeknight girls night and got to sip wine from some fancy glasses while catching up on life.   Day 18:  Currently I’m reading Book 2 in a YA series.…

    Football Party on a Budget

My friends and I love to get together to support our teams (Brewers, Packers & Badgers) with tailgates and parties. Its easy to tailgate before a Brewer game because tickets are reasonable and the team plays locally. Badger & Packer tickets are not as easy to come by because all games are sold out (Packers are sold out for my entire lifetime!) so you have to buy online at inflated prices and the stadiums are hours away. For the first Packers game of the season, my friends hosted a get-together at their house and did a taco night and asked everyone to bring something to go with the tacos.  I…
